Simple off dry to dry wine. Finished a bit dry. I think a lot of people will enjoy this wine. No matter your taste. — 9 years ago

I usually don't like Merlot but this far exceeded my expectations. — 10 years ago
#AgedWineTuesday.
Ruby in color with a wide and dirty brick rim.
Showing a wonderful nose with lots of earth notes.
On the palate, sweet cherries, over ripen plums, raisins, dried fruits, chocolates, citrus, tobacco, coffee, peppercorn, earth, black tea, wet leaves and herbs.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.
Nice tangy finish, yet not very long, with fine grained tannins.
I did not decant it, but let it open up in the bottle. I really liked the nose, after 30 minutes of airtime.
Thank you John for sharing this with me.
Nice to see how this lasted so well, even though it is from a bad vintage.
This 39 year old is not at its peak any longer, but still very drinkable. I believe it was way better 10 years ago. Lucky to have the bottle all for myself, as no one else liked it. 😃
Also, great to see that the alcohol is kind of low (for an Amarone).
Aged for 2 years in wood barrels.
14% alcohol by volume.
91 points.

Sept 28, 2019. J2’s 5th bonus year celebration. TW Concierge offering April 2017. Purchased this and the Amarone. This is s solid Ripasso. Tart cherries, of course but not overpowering. Smooth, no pepper, hint of chocolate. 70% Corvina, 30% Rondinella. I believe Villa Cavarena is an Allegrini family label, from their Co-op? Definitely Allegrini quality and for <$20/bottle, what’s not to like??? — 7 years ago
Dec 30, 2017. Volpara. Purchased at Allegrini Villa dellaTorre in Fumane. From their Bolgheri vineyard. 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Black fruit, vegetal. Well balanced. So lovely. — 8 years ago
Прекрасный цвет и ароматика! Фруктовое но сухое. — 9 years ago
Considered by many as among the very best dessert wines in all of Italy. Would be spectacular if had along side a flourless chocolate cake. — 10 years ago
Feast tasting Nov 2020. Drank w/ JackD & Caitlin Jan 27, 2021. 50% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Petit Verdot. Such a beautiful nose. Red fruit, cedar. Equally pleasing on the palate w/ fruit, leather, & earth. Love the Allegrini wines, and this Super Tuscan blend is a winner. Will buy more! — 5 years ago
Dry, concentrated, and very spicy. Paired very well with pizza during the Super Bowl. — 6 years ago
Very interesting Amarone style creation from Malbec and Cab in Argentina with Allegrini. Have that nose of red fruits and berries and that silky sweet texture. Be good to comp with the real thing. — 7 years ago

Made with Corvina Veronese, Syrah, and Oseleta varietals, this bottle presents a full and juicy mouthwatering wine. Complex notes of bright red fruit are balanced with subtler hints of coffee bean, cocoa, and cayenne. It's a wonderful representation of the wines from Valpolicella and one that I'll be more than happy to age and revisit years from now. — 9 years ago
