Poggio alla Croce

Chianti Classico DOCG

Castello di Monteriggioni. Quite tasty. Nose of violet, lavender, and herbs with red fruit and some earth. The paper is finessed with lush tannins. Can use time. Maybe age worthy for 5-10 years, but very much drinkable now. Great with pork dishes. — 7 years ago

Marchesi Antinori

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2014

Antinori – Tignanello 2014
Toscana IGT – Italy 🇮🇹
Blend: Predominantly Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Franc

Overview
A benchmark Super Tuscan, Tignanello has been at the forefront of Italy’s modern wine movement since the 1970s. The 2014 vintage, from a cooler and more challenging year, shows the estate’s skill in crafting balance, depth, and elegance even when conditions were less than ideal. (Educational note: Tignanello was one of the first wines to break Chianti Classico tradition by blending Sangiovese with international varieties and aging in small French oak barrels.)

Aromas & Flavors
Blackberries, cherries, and currants form the core, wrapped in notes of violet, spice, and tobacco. Subtle cedar and cocoa tones from oak integration add depth without overpowering the fruit.

Mouthfeel
Medium to full-bodied, silky in texture with medium-plus tannins that frame the fruit beautifully. Balanced acidity keeps the wine fresh, while the finish lingers with spice and dark fruit.

Food Pairings
Excellent with bistecca alla Fiorentina, lamb chops, or wild boar ragu. Also pairs with aged pecorino or truffle-infused pasta.

Verdict
A Super Tuscan you simply cannot miss. The 2014 Tignanello is elegant, balanced, and layered — proof that even in a cooler vintage, Antinori delivers sophistication and finesse. 🍷

Did You Know?
Tignanello was first released in 1971 and is often credited with sparking the “Super Tuscan” revolution, redefining Italian fine wine.

Tenuta Santa Maria alla Pieve

Riserva Amarone della Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2013

Everything you’d want in an amarone. Burst of flavor at the beginning that then settles back into a relaxed, elegant finish. On the palate, some black plum mixed with a very faint dried cranberry or cherry. It all resolved into a wonderfully balanced finish, that is almost floral, but it’s more deep and complex than just floral. — 6 years ago

Corte alla Flora

Barolo Nebbiolo

A garnet red color in glass, where a bouquet of spicy balsamic prevail on the nose with elegant hints of cherry and black berries. In mouth, the flavor is warm and powerful at the beginning, with elegant tannins, and a lasting finish.

Well for long aging...

Campo alla Sughera

Adèo Bolgheri Rosso 2013

Plum, ripe cherry, geranium, raw meat, dry leaves, dusty earth, chicory, baking spice, chalky grippy tannins, m+(1 glass left in bot.) acid, long finish. Needs time. After 3 days una bomba! Interesting to see what it would have been — 9 years ago
