I really like this 100% Alfrocheiro from Dão Portugal. Bitter cherries on stone. 5€ ex-w. — 11 years ago
2004 - A successful blend made by Dirk Niepoort and Alvaro de Castro - combining freshness and elegance of Dao and character of Douro - encompasses the best of the two regions. This edition is the result of combining 60% of a blend of wine from the Douro, produced at Quinta de Nápoles from very old vines, one of which is over 120 years old, with 40% of a blend of Dão produced at Quinta da Pellada, from old vines, with the region's characteristic varieties: Tourigo, Jaen, Alfrocheiro and Tinta Roriz 😀 — 11 years ago

Light Portuguese wine bright and fruity — 10 years ago
Lovely fresh red from Asturias. Made from Mencía and Albarín tinto (=Alfrocheiro in Portugal). Zippy red fruit, black olives, olive brine, some really pretty spices. Taste is very smooth yet fresh. Red fruits, chalky tannins. Tiny green bitter to keep it interesting. Great acidity. Very gluggable. 2013. — 10 years ago
50% Touriga Nacional e 50% Alfrocheiro, MADE by Julia Kemper, a reconverted lawyer supported by Dirk Niepoort, started to make great Dao wines, this one is a concept more simple, very floral notes fruity and elegant, a good stuff 😃 — 11 years ago

Portuguese wine tasting at the fabulous Que Syrah (West Portal) — 10 years ago
The bird is the word. One of the best wines I've had from Portugal. Definitely almost a light red. Pretty, juicy damson plum, pomegranate and raspberry purée notes are overlaid with pink rose and violet florals. Herbal sage and coriander notes add depth. General crunchiness and sapidity abide. So drinkable and complex, especially for the price. I foresee a lot of this in my future. What I've always been looking for in Portugal: their answer to Beaujolais. — 11 years ago
