Alexandra Gianna

Two Paddocks

The Last Chance Pinot Noir 2012

Nice light cherry color with a slight Browning on the rim. Soft tannins and subtle amounts of oak with good integration. Even with 30% new oak.

Loving the wines from Alexandra at the moment.

Casa Lapostolle

Cuvée Alexandre Apalta Vineyard Merlot 2008

Saw an ‘08, so I grabbed it and wanted to see how it tasted. Founded by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet in 1994. The Marnier Lapostolle family are founders and owners of the world-renowned liqueur Grand Marnier. A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Carmenere, dark red almost purple with berry fruit and lively citrus notes. Raspberry and blackberry flavors with cacao and cedar tones, well balanced, full ripe tannins. Lingering finish ending with oak and fruit notes. Still tasting well! — 8 years ago

Gianna Marie Syrah 2009

Of the 2 CA Syrahs we had this one surprised by its non-readiness. Still a bit backwards, but not awkward. Rich kirsch nose, followed by dark, blue fruit and tons of minerality. Blueberry liqueur, cherry compote. Long tannins. Wait 2+ years on this and decant longer than the 30 mins I did. — 9 years ago

Casa Lapostolle

Canto de Apalta Red Blend 2012

Lapostolle was founded by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet in 1994. A blend of 28% Carmenere, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and 21% Syrah, inky red with aromas of fresh black fruit and exotic spice. On the palate plum and blueberry flavors with leather and smoky oak and pepper spice. Savory soft tannins with spice on lingering ending. Nice Value. Tasting Sample. — 9 years ago

Saint Gregory

Cuvee Alexandra Cuvee #10 Brut

Saint Gregory Cuvee Alexandra Cuvee # 10 Brut | Méthode Traditionelle | 12.5% | 40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, and 20% Pinot Blanc | A boutique sparkler to be sure from the talented hands of Gregory Graciano, Brut Cuvee Alexandra is made from fruit grown in the lofty Potter Valley that looks out over the Russian River below in California’s Mendocino County. Only 215 are made and each bottle seen every fuss and detail from the moment it is cluster pressed through its 100% barrel fermentation, along its long, cool rest sur latte (in bottles on their side), a thorough riddling and degorgement a la glace before being muzzled under wire and cork for even further development. The results are simply marvelous. Leesy tangerine scents and toasty pear notes, a persistent bead whose streaming texture is balanced by that liqueur de Champagne and a rich body but mineral acidity that keeps it buoyant and bright despite its alto range. Best of all –it’s an absolute pleasure to drink combining intellect and hedonism. More from the winery here…https://thewinecompany.box.com/s/yurvfgabt165nffezga7 — 12 years ago
