Really nice... got this at a bargain price from Ahlgren's ongoing library sale. Aged very gracefully, beautiful garnet color. On the subtler side, feels like a French Cab rather than a CA one (I was told that the fruit doesn't always ripen entirely in this vineyard). Winemaker's comments: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Dusty, velvety, aromatic varietal bouquet with hints of cherries. Fully balanced palate, soft tannins, good finish. Egg white fined, unfiltered. 257 cases produced. Was off to a bad start with this one... really needs proper decanting to separate the sediment, and I didn't. Fortunately got a good clear pour on the second day, and was able to experience it in all its glory. Not my favorite style of Pinot, but surely impressive. Lots of fruit, leather, tannins still present, and vibrant acidity. — 11 years ago
