The nose was intense, spicy and wonderfully lifted with black cherry offset by rosy floral tones, mint, spiced orange, crushed stone and hints of black earth. On the palate, I found silky textures contrasted by a combination of tart cherry, cranberry and zesty acidity along with a spicy citrus spring to its step--the purity here incredible as well. It finished remarkably long with saturating tart cherry fruit, inner florals and hard candies. A hint of tannin lingered through the aftermath assuring that this is not only amazing tonight, but sure to get even better over time. I’m excited to watch it evolve throughout the evening. — 8 years ago
It's actually Sandhill three super Tuscan but the app is fighting with me. Butter bomb up front with some scattered dark fruit bits in the aftermath. — 10 years ago
Delicious. Smooth and fruity with great berry flavors, great finish, and lingering aftermath of awesome — 12 years ago
Dark garnet-ish lightly glass-coating purple in the glass. Cassis, ash, and cigar box on the nose. Echoed on the palate with firm tannins and medium plus acidity. Long, dark tarry finish. New World fruit with an Old World ethos making it just as “food friendly” as wine is supposed to be, and still going strong thirteen and a half years on. I’m enjoying mine with beef stew in the aftermath of a classic nor’easter. Don’t wait for one in your region. — 8 years ago

Drinking PERFECT FOR THE AFTERMATH OF A BOMB CYCLONE AND ARCTIC CONDITIONS. Reminder that there were beautiful things (in 2008 at least). — 8 years ago
Here is the epitome of the Cheval Blanc style. The nose is a fragrant medley of ripe fruit, licorice, raspberries, a little smokiness, and floral notes. It is fairly dense and powerful as it opens, and the high percentage of Cabernet Franc with which it was made is evident. It is sweet yet undeniably elegant, red cherries, plums and herbs past the mid palate. The smooth tannins are charming, and the lively yet balanced acidity gives it great lift. The finish usually exceptional, was just a little dry on this showing, though it didn’t undermine the lovely symphony between fruit, acid and tannin. Asian spices and coffee lap at the palate in the aftermath. Overall, a wine of remarkable intensity that also has an ethereal grace that almost reminds you in that aspect of great Lafite. It is a signature Cheval Blanc of great breed and elegance. — 9 years ago
A very pleasant surprise. This is serious Syrah. Inviting nose of mystique Asian spices, brambly fruit, animal fur and a big blob of ink. After a sip my palate is coated by substantial tannines, soft and ripe, fine lines of acidity, a wonderful core of fresh black fruit, and an aftermath of garrigue and rocky minerality.

2008 #Scharzhofberger #Kabinett, #EgonMüller--as advertised this was a blue print of the vintage with mineral, citrus, and saline notes that give a distinctly dry aftermath--ideal food wine! — 11 years ago
