A Dry Farm Wines Selection

Lemelson Vineyards

Thea's Selection Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2021

Light ruby color with a garnet rim. Aromas of Smokey black berry/currant/raspberry fruit with notes of forest floor and purple flowers. Same fruits on the palate with hints of mushrooms, black tea, dried earth and savory spices. Juicy with silky tannins. Medium bodied and soft textured. — 2 years ago

Dry, but not flinty, with a touch of fruit and a lot of minerality. Peach, apricot, apple, and honey. Light and crisp! — 4 years ago

Finger Lakes Semi-Dry Riesling 2018

Given to me by friends, this is an amazing US Riesling. It does not have the typical petrol nose and taste of a German Riesling but every other characteristic is there and delectable! — 5 years ago

Insignia Estate Grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1983

9.3

Joseph Phelps Party and the 83 Insignia from magnum.

The nose reveals; floral liqueur notes, more mid red fruits; strawberries, cherries & dark cherries. Blackberries, black raspberries, rhubarb, soft, volcanic minerals, limestone, steeped fruit tea, cedar, old leather & tobacco, dry crushed rocks, dark spices, dry herbal notes, eucalyptus, dry stems with dry & withering dark, red florals.

The body is medium full with a fair amount of tannins in a wine with this age. The structure, tension, length and balance are still quite sound with harmony. Floral liqueur notes, more mid red fruits, strawberries, cherries & dark cherries. Blackberries, black raspberries, rhubarb, soft, volcanic minerals, limestone, steeped fruit tea, dark spice with some heat, cedar, old leather & tobacco, cedar, dry crushed rocks, dark spices, dry herbal notes, eucalyptus, dry stems with some funkiness. withering dark, red florals. The acidity is nice. The long finish still show ripeness, good balance but, has leaned and shows nice persistence.

Russian River Selection Chardonnay 2015

Coravin'd a glass. Opens with a buttery nose but it's much more acidic than buttery. Nice fruit notes of Key Lime and peach. Somewhat of a longer orangey finish. I liked it better less chilled. — 7 years ago

Dry Creek Vineyard

The Mariner Dry Creek Valley Meritage Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2010

Not as good as I was expecting for the price. This wine has plenty of blackcurrant and dark plum flavor with a medium body. A pleasant enough Bordeaux blend, but not a favorite. — 12 years ago

Ravines Wine Cellars

Dry Finger Lakes Riesling 2019

I could drink this shit forever, it has a sexy marriage of minerality and acidity. I’m getting green apple, white peach, some lime. Also the suggestion of pizza dough and something savory like mushroom (just me???) — 3 years ago

Pullus

This is a seriously good wine. Great nose, great structure and terrific balance from the front palette to the backend. Drinks like a 1990’s Cali cab. Just a baby, it has many years to age! — 6 years ago

Trefethen Family Vineyards

Oak Knoll District Dry Riesling 2013

My first Cali Riesling and boy do people at Trefethen knock it out of the park! Dry, completely. A bucket load of petroleum/glycerine character. Weirdly a touch of vanilla ice cream on the note. Still, a great job! — 10 years ago

This wine was the perfect accompaniment for tonight’s dinner; steak au poivre. I’m no sommelier but I picked up some notes of blackberry and black cherry with hints of chocolate and peppery spice. Once again, not a sommelier. Wine- 9/10 Steak- 10/10 The Fugitive- Harrison Ford/10 — 3 years ago

Black Forest Distillers

Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin

Monkey 47 Dry Distiller Gin. Slightly hazy, water white, colourless. Pronounced intensity of perfume, juniper, lingonberry, violets, lavender, orange and grapefruit zest. With water added, more perfume and citrus notes to the fore. Dry on the palate. Warming alcohol, medium body, pronounced flavour intensity. Long finish. Very complex. Outstanding example of a premium gin. — 10 years ago
