Excellent Chardonnay! No Malo. — a year ago
Unscrew and pour yesterday. Noted from 24 hrs open. Fantastic PQR. Lovely meyer lemon and soft mango notes, some oak-influenced vanilla, but very stylish. On the palate: lovely acidity, soft slate, good density and a juicy finish. At the garagiste price of about 27 bucks, this is leaning in the case buy direction. Yum. — 4 years ago
Happy Father's Day 2020 to all; I'm posting pictures of our fur-kids, an independent and somewhat self-interested bunch. Two boys (9) and two girls (3), all rescued from various locations across the East Coast of the US. They generally bring the utmost of joy to my life on a daily basis.
Nose has blackberry jam on moist leather, minor cedar, very light barnyard notes, grilled blackberry,
blueberry compote, brewed dark roasted coffee, wet garden soil, chocolate vines candy and dried orange peel.
Palate has over-ripe blackberry, wet tanned leather, dark chocolate syrup, dehydrated black cherry, chocolate covered blueberry and moist cedar.
Silky smooth, intense finish running +2m, still showing tannins. Expect this bottle to easily hold another 10+ years without concern, in proper storage.
Decanted ~5h. Paired with well salted (in advance), medium-rare, grilled NY strip steaks from my favorite, local farmer in Columbia Co. NY (Kinderhook Farm) and sauted, early season, baby squash in ozro with our garden herbs.
INAUGURAL vintage on this wine, I certainly didn't realize that fact when we bought it in September 2005! This has been in storage for the prior 15 years, just coming back home in January 2020.

First dance with British bubbles, not Champagne but pretty damn close. Very good structure and acid. Over priced when you compare it to NV Champs. But The region is now on my radar and I am looking forward to things to come. — 8 years ago
Dry and Smokie. Has subtle black licorice like flavor (plumb, blackberries, mocha and vanilla). Did I mention this wine is dry... In a good way. — 9 years ago
Lovely Cabernet expression, balance, weight and length. Acidity lets this one down but very enjoyable none the less. — 10 years ago

Couldn’t pick the bay leaves, sorry. 2019, drunk in 2024. Really nice drinking right now, feeling it will be awesome in another few years. Will try and get a case of this vintage. — 10 months ago
2012 tasting great. Solid dark fruits, nice balance. — 4 years ago
This is just ridiculous. Act 7. Tastes of deep figs/plums up front as if grandma just baked a pie in your mouth. Finished smooth with a tiny bit of spice and more jams that make you want to cry. More of this please. — 6 years ago
One of my favorite California Right Bank Bordeaux Blends. Cherry, earthy, mushroom. Beautifully balanced. — 7 years ago
More special with a great group of friends. Very good cherry easy tannins. — 7 years ago

At my Chardonnay Challenge of 6 wines with very close scores the Heytesbury finished 6th. I still gave it 95 points and a Gold Medal. HH said “powerful grapefruit and citrus - Gingin/Mendoza clones and 97 points “. A semi regular annual purchase for me. Had my 2nd last bottle 31 weeks later on 11th April 2025. Still holding up - delicious, funky and a class act. Still strong citrus and grapefruit and a smoky note. — 10 months ago

Brilliant silver-straw. Lime zest, honeysuckle, succulent herbs and chalky minerals on the incisive nose. Dry, tightly focused and lithe on the palate, offering intense citrus and orchard fruit flavors that reveal a hint of waxiness and a refreshingly bitter quinine note. Shows a delicate touch and finishes clean, nervy and quite long, with resonating mineral character and a hint of lemon thyme. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, July 2021)
