Umberto Cavicchioli & Figli
Cavicchioli Lambrusco Dolce
Deep, near blackish purple; heavy extraction. Coarse, quickly dissipating magenta mousse. Black cherry and light graphite on the nose. Echoed on the palate with fresh, medium acidity and medium tannins; both offset the light sweetness well. Medium light body, no notable finish. Great entry-level Lambrusco that would be an excellent a variety of summer foods.

Sep 14th, 2014Dark red. Leathery cherry nose like a southern Rhone red. Tart black cherries, strong effervescence, and significant lingering sticky tannins. This is only slightly sweet, not particularly complex, astringent, and honestly rather unexpected. It's basically dried tart cherries, and the low alcohol (7.5%) makes it forgivingly drinkable. Fine for $10, just think of it more as carbonated tart cherry juice than a sweet sparkling wine.
