Beringer Vineyards

Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

On the nose, this is blackberry, red cherries, red currant... Cocoa powder? On the palate, the blackberry and current is still there, but certainly some herbal notes as well... Green pepper... Dried sage... Medium body and tannins are quite pronounced at this stage... Another couple of years may have been preferred to soften a bit though this may be at the expense of the great currant up front... I feel there's some smokiness in the texture that I like here... The finish is long and makes me think of tree bark... A nice pairing for us tonight with flank steak. — a month ago

Nicolas Joly

Clos de la Coulée de Serrant Savennières Chenin Blanc 2020

This remains one of the greatest white dry wines of France although probably not for everybody. Every year is a surprise and that inconsistency can be off-putting. Golden color, medium weight, quite high in alcohol (14.5) and cloudy. Long burn, apricot, dried raisins, apple and pineapple. — a month ago

Bodegas Riojanas

Monte Real Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo 2009

Crazy to say but…too young! Balanced and dark but has yet to develop the spice rack subtleness and tannins can still evolve further — a month ago

Valderiz Ribera Del Duero 2019

Wonderful cherry bouquet, silky smooth, full-bodied but not too heavy, rich and creamy, great on its own or with a meaty dish. — a month ago

Château Talbot

Saint-Julien Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Quite smoky & raw. Gravel & raw cacao. The fruit really hidden right now. Barely hinted. After some time a bit of cassis emerges.
Dense on the palate. And quite burly. Big tannins, juicy yet very present. Great depth. Roast, cacao, very masculine.
This is way too early to drink this, still needs time to settle down. Brilliant but way too young.

Bodyguard Petit Verdot Petite Sirah 2020

Love the inky color out of the bottle. Loads of black currant, leather, tobacco and dark chocolate. The lengthy finish gives me some cherry and plum. One of my best Daou wines in the lineup. Varietal: 58% Petit Verdot, 42% Petite Sirah. — a month ago

Don’t have to stretch to come up with the right notes. Just plain delicious. Sweet, nutty, and vibrant. Dans Paris, l’anniversaire de mom&dad — a month ago

Vin de Pays du Var Cinsault Blend Rosé 2023

Dry, slight pear taste. As a result wine drinker, I don’t normally drink rose but while in Provence have been trying different ones. This is my fav so far. — a month ago
