(Delectable, please consolidate all these Wendouree wines! Sure, A.P. Birks is the proprietor and historical name, but the wines are only ever referred to as ‘Wendouree’. Please tidy up your database!!) Still youthful, but secondaries starting to come through, particularly on the nose. Blackberry, dried flowers, cocoa, leather, hints of dried fruit. Persistent acid and tannins, fine structure. Grippy finish and plenty of length. Still just hints of what’s to come in time. It’s an old soul in a young body. (Had this with duck and cherry sauce. The pairing didn’t work at all. Food and wine were both delicious separately.)
