Monthly WTF wine group meet up.

My contribution. After getting the β€˜14s in last week, I wanted to take a β€˜13 for a test drive. Toasted, little oxidative on the nose (in a good way), sea salt, & marzipan; minuscule bubbles. Not chalky or limestone driven, but a great creamy mousse up front. Almond and brioche on the palate, roasted lemon and grapefruit. Not as tart or tight as the β€˜12 from my experience. Gained more pear as it opened.

This had lovely autolytic notes of brioche, crusty bread, pie crust … sadly the effervescence had waned. It was a little flat. Palate was off dry, offering riper apple, pear, white peach and white blossom characteristics.

Always a delight, though the Blanc de Noirs is consistently more flavorful and interesting. Excellent bubble size and a robust flavor. Paired with caviar and blinis.

Much nicer, IMO, than the BdN. Mineral characteristics that recall a nice Chablis.

Drank this after an extra brut champagne. Likely a mistake. The difference in dosage was overwhelmingly apparent and a distraction. Nice acidity, but lacking any yeastiness or any subtlety relative to the previous wine.

Cabernet night with the guys. Started with a few whites

I enjoyed the 2013 Blanc de Blancs but liked the Blanc de Noirs 2013 version a little better. Green apple with nice minerality. Drank well out of the gate
