Jan 29th, 2020A fun, bargain Riesling with a bit of age on it is exactly what’s needed right now. A stately light lemon color in the glass. The nose is subtle for quite some time upon opening but you get a bit of white flowers and the promise of honeysuckle. After a bit of air, there’s a whiff of petrol and lavender. Apricots and honey abound here and earthy notes take you on home. A really nice, chill bouquet.
At 20 years old, this baby is still alive and kicking. All possible rough edges have been smoothed out over the decades and you’re left with a Riesling that’s just so relaxed and pleasant. The acid has chilled out and the structure and balance are still intact. In the mouth, the citrus fruits are pleasing and the earth omnipresent. This is one of those bottles where the end surprises you because it goes so fast.
