(60% petit verdot, 40% cesanese)
What a glorious wine...
Cote-Rotie-like in profile and mouthfeel. But different. Sweet black cherries, crème de cassis and a spritz of blood orange, beautiful supportive oak, perfectly ripe tannines, and a dark mystical brooding mid-palate of incense, charcoal, fireworks, granite, scorched earth and allspice. It made me think "lava!", and I am certain that this is what lava would (should?) taste like!
And besides all that, there's an amazing balance, no heat, no apparent sweetness, it's totally in control. A true Rockstar of a wine, drinking perfectly after 2hrs in the decanter.
