Montefalco Sagrantino

Smells a bit hot. Oh no. Some licorice and black fruits but def an ethanol thing going. But not on the palate where it is supple and elegant. Really refined and delicate. Hope the nose clears up. At the right temp. Complex. Little heat on the finish but lovely concentration and good fruit quality. Great length. Let’s see how this integrates

A deep inhale of cedar and tabac.

A touch of saline with great fruits here, mulberry, dark raspberry, alpine strawberry. Some heft to the body, and a completely beautiful integration of the tannins from the grape skin contact, the oak tannins, the persimmon acidity. Hints of coffee linger.
This is a philosophical wine, one to really think about. Love these.

Liked this more than I expected. Wonderfully rich nose with a lot of fruit. Quite deep and fruity in an old world way on the palate. Some oak is notable on the finish, but it’s pretty integrated. Nice acid. Delicious overall.
