Marquis d’Angerville “Clos des Ducs” 2013- Needed a lot of time get going. Initially quite austere and not very giving but comes around after a sufficient decant to show a lovely purity and elegance. The bouquet is quite beautiful. But 2013 definitely needs more time for the palate to come together.

After some struggling I decided to go from south to north for my 6-pack burgundy, (for the most part) lighter-body style to fuller. Here is the first, #D'Angerville monopole (vineyard owned by single owner which is rare in fragmented burgundy) Clos Des Ducs 2013. The Family had been growing grapes for more than 200 years. One of top growers in #volnay and this is arguably their best vineyard. The wine is light ruby in color, translucent. Apparent cherry and rose petal on the noses mixed with stony minerality, hint of new oak influence in the background. On the palate stony cherry, striking yet balanced acidity, a wine of superb clarity and elegance.
