A lot of wine for 17$: give it air & You get a dark, inky Rhone blend heavy on the black fruits & lighter on the garrique. A food wine big time, as a bit simple if not a bruiser at 14.5%. My co drinker felt it angular on the palate, while I felt it broad & quite soft despite its power.

May 25th, 20222019 vintage of the Cuvée Maclura. Sourced from 50 year old vines. 60% Grenache 25% Syrah 10% Mourvèdre 5% Cinsault. Quite a bit of color and body. Solid amount of structure while still being very approachable. You could (and probably have) do a lot worse with a “simple” Côtes-Du-Rhône.

Jan 31st, 2023Still a baby—needed time in the decanter. Biting tannins, dark fruit, fig, a touch of smoke. Insane for the price.
