2018 opened June 2022. Beauregard’s forte is making tightly clenched Pinot’s that take 10 or 15 years of aging before they blossom. I don’t have the patience to hang onto a bottle that long—and at my age most of their Pinots won’t be ready to drink before I kick the bucket. But this is a lovely little tipple that drinks young. The color is a slightly transparent orangey-red—which I’ve noticed is a characteristic of a lot of Beauregard reds—but the coloration doesn’t in any way diminish this wine. Rhubarb and unripe cherries on the nose. Light red raspberries on the front. Medium tannic structure, with a lot of mineral high notes and some faint barnyard notes on the finish. Lest I damn this wine with faint praise, all these components work well together. It is a very pleasant table wine to drink right now. On the other hand I don’t think it’s gonna age well. But neither am I, so I can’t be fussy. ;-)
