Ooo-LaLa! Found another 2001! Deep Ruby with sweet black and red fruit aromas with a pleasant gentle oak notes. A 100% Tempranillo, from 100-Year Old vines, aged for 24 months in French oak barrels. The palate puts forth flavors of ripe red cherries, dried fruit, cacao and tobacco. The wine showed plenty of acidity and round tannins, giving the wine good structure. This full-bodied wine had a long finish leaving with some oak and earthy mineral ending. A Pleasure! — 7 years ago
Ooo-LaLa!! Went to a private equity tasting where money is not an issue. Intense aromas of red/blue and dark berries, with a distinctive graphite nose. Shows full fruit flavors of cherries, plums and blackberries with sweet cacao and smoky cedar. Well developed, rich, delicate and soft tannins with balanced alcohol and acidity. The finish was complex, elegant and enjoyable, giving mineral nuances with good length. Perfect! Tasting Sample! — 8 years ago
Perhaps the most restrained SQN Syrah I've had since E-raised. This drank like an incredibly balanced, nuanced mid 90s LaLa. Perfectly on the right edge of extreme extraction. Restraint but power in spades. — 9 years ago

Nice, well-balanced Pinot. — 7 years ago
Oooo lala. Lovely, and 2012 was a hot year. Sour cherry and dried plums/dark fruits. Some great leather and tobacco that gives it a depth and linger that help it finish strong. — 7 years ago
Nunca tinha tomado um vinho com quase 20 anos... Nem sei o que dizer. Excelentemente elegante e marcante. Sei lá. Que doidera foi. — 8 years ago
Oh. You touched my trah-lala. Silky smooth. I love this wine. So southern. — 8 years ago

This is my 4th check in on this wine and it is truly in full stride. A very lala type flavor profile, perhaps more so than any SQN rhone varietal I've had. Grilled meats, charred cedar and bay leaf mixed with a ripe Alban-esque stewed tomato back end (in a good way)....but a bit more restraint and polish than the Alban. This got about an hour in the decanter and I would suggest triple that. As expected each taste of the night in glass was better than the last. A 3 hour decant and just the right food pairing and this could be +/- 100 point wine. — 10 years ago

The last several years I’ve either opened a Royal City, Charles Smith Skull or Behrens Family Thanksgiving Cab (with the skeleton family on the label) on Halloween night. This is far and away the best showing for the Royal City I’ve ever had. 10 years in bottle seems to be the sweet spot for this wine. Blackberry compote, black olive tapenade, smoke, grainy tannins and a dash of herbaceous goodness. Not at all like Cayuse—there is no fox fur funk—rather it compares favorably to a higher end Northern Rhône but without the classy heft and long finish of a LaLa. Enjoyed it immensely. — 7 years ago

O que dizer de um vinho, do Novo Mundo, com 19 anos de vida? Bora lá experimentar, já que esse ainda se mantém vivo e elegante, tal e qual um europeu. — 11 years ago

Give it 2 hours and then look out, here comes the black pepper. Reminds me of an aged LaLa — 7 years ago
