A thick, unctuous, blackberry petit sirah. Beautiful wine. Very dense. 2010. — 9 years ago
One more yes #winelover#winelover#winelover - so far one of the best and oldest #Portwine tasted during my #portugaldiary - Andresen Colheita 1910, sophisticated "back to the future" very old Tawny port #wine - emotional, classy and an endless finish 😊 — 11 years ago

Orange marmalade. Precious. — 10 years ago
Hands down winner from today's #Elevenses @Christie's Wine. Bottled in the 70s, recorked in 2011. Sercial, so you know the acidity is in full effect, but the wine is really harmonious and balanced. It's not as "offbeat" as some other older Madeiras I've had, and honestly would be straightforward to pair with food...roast chicken, for one. — 11 years ago
How else to warm up for a trade tasting of invigorating Champagne this afternoon? Penetrating Sercial Madeira from the year that brought us the Boy Scouts of America. If wine were merit badges perhaps I'd nearly be an Eagle by now... After this evening's tasting I'll have quite a heavy merit badge sash for Champagne -an obsession that can reach no surfeit -it becomes more fascinating and evermore nuanced. For the moment however I'm awash in crushed kumquats in honey, marmalade, hazelnuts and roast peanuts -all layered among so much more in one of the richest Sercial Madeiras I've tried to date. — 9 years ago
