I've said it time and time again: Gewürztraminer and Kung Pao Chicken is one of the best wine and food pairings ever. The 2013 Cave de Turckheim Gewürztraminer ($28 SRP) possesses heady, floral and citrus aromas; a soft, textured mouthfeel; rich, ripe tropical and stone fruit flavors and a near-perfect integration of sweetness and acidity. Combined with the warm, spicy brown Kung Pao sauce, it's euphoric on the palate. (sample) — 9 years ago

Not much on the nose, very faint fruit with a little bit of mustiness.
The flavour hits you hard. You get a full on berry attack. Mainly blackberries but also ripe juicy cherries. Very acidic and it sets your mouth alive with the acidity, amazing.
This is a light and almost refreshing red wine. It has balance and quite nice. — 10 years ago

Value buy Chenin Blanc we bought for a steal. Definitely a start of summer wine with appetizers and seafood. — 9 years ago
Heavier body, peach and tropical fruits, integrated malo and oak, lemon zest. Old World abv at 12.5%. From Palateur Imports; always stellar wines from them. And a steal at the PLCB for $11. — 9 years ago

Odeur de lychee, surprenant pour un gewurtraminer, peu sucré. 2012 — 9 years ago
I decided to taste this sample to celebrate the end of March wine club month at my day job and it did not disappoint. What I love about Alsatian wines are the brilliant acidity and minerality, which are showcased in this wine. Citrus and tree fruits permeate the senses. This riesling is clean, crisp, and refined. It is approachable now, yet age worthy, too. Suggested pairings include shellfish, but I paired this with Asian food and it worked splendidly. Riesling goes with everything, yes? I love a tasty $10. This is definitely one. As usual there's value in the Rhone. Went wonderfully with my veggie southwestern hash, which is no surprise, since most Rhones hold up to hearty meals. Good fruit, nice body, a little spicy, not overly complex. — 9 years ago
2012 vintage. Great with Indian food. — 10 years ago
Felt like a good value. Started meh but opened up nicely. Good general drinking. — 10 years ago
A solid and deep Corbieres from the small and unique cooperative of Castelmaure. Earthy, herby with scents of warm bush, thyme and dry leaves. Dried figs and spices complete the picture and add character. Full-bodied, rich and deep on the palate with fine and ripe tannins. medium acidity. A wine for food. — 10 years ago

Mineral, chalk front; light, smooth body; tart, almost astringent close that fades to a balanced sour/sweet as it oxidizes. Served with quiche in winter, but would brighten any sunny day by water, too. — 8 years ago
