It's time for my
#FridayCabernetfix.

Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.

Strong nose of blackberries, sweet plums, cooked cherries, cedar, leather, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, earth and black pepper.

Full bodied, smooth and bold, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, sweet cherries, cedar, chocolates, vanilla, spices, espresso, earth, cola, tobacco leaf, herbs and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This young Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville is already delicious. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly. Definitely worth the wait.

Elegant, rich and extracted. In your face kind of wine.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. Has great potential to be a 95+ point wine.

Will pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Petit Verdot. Aged in mostly French Oak barrels, (40% new) for 26 months. A small production of only 8 barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

This is a wonderful Merlot blend from Israel. Showing nice complexity and well balanced with a great mouthfeel. Really enjoyed the nose here, even after a few minutes out of the bottle.

This four year old is already yummy right out of the bottle, but better after a couple of hours in a decanter.

I've had this before, and this time I decided to give it a slight chill, and boy it was delicious.

Nice buttery mouthfeel, even looks buttery when poured. Drinking very nicely now.

Very tasty and fruit forward. Dark, extracted and rich. Feels like a Napa Bordeaux blend.

A blend of 42% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 12% Petit verdot and 26% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 18 months in French Oak barrels. Unfiltered and Kosher. Mevushal.

Pet Nat Sparkling Finger Lakes Leon Millot Blend 2020

Pretty interesting, very dark pet nat. 62% Leon Millot, 26% Marquette, 12% Cabernet Franc. There's a little funk and big notes of blackberries. It's bold, it's not too sweet and has medium tannins. Definitely giving out Lambrusco vibes. — 3 years ago

The Modern Syrah 2017

A Santa Barbara County Proprietary Red Wine. Unfiltered and unfined. Entirely constructed of Estrella-clone Syrah from two ends of the Santa Rita Hills and a sprinkling of Viognier. Native-yeast fermented with 40% whole cluster inclusion and raised in large neutral barrels for 26-months. Matthias’ expression of great Syrah from a great Syrah growing region, cool coastal vineyards north of Santa Barbara. Recommended to a little above cellar temperature.

NOSE
Young boysenberries. Steeping Darjeeling tea. A hint of barbecue smoke drifts by.

COLOR/MOUTHFEEL
The color of a deep burgundy Chrysler Cordoba. Big, velvety mouthfeel, but not Corinthian leather.

TASTE/FINISH
Taste: Black cherries, just before 100% ripe. A touch of blueberry pie, but savory, not sweet. Finish: A finish of black pepper with a touch of cocoa nib at the last few touches of finish. Juicy, bustling tannins right to the point where you think they’re a touch too bold, but then the finish reaches over and says “I believe you were mistaken”.

MUSIC
Jazz trumpeter Jeremy Pelt with the track “I’ve Just Seen Her” on his album “The Art of Intimacy”. The Jazz Crusaders with the track “Young Rabbits” from their “Festival Album”, 1966, recorded live at the Newport and Pacific Jazz Festivals.
