Looked back at my note from a few weeks ago and it captures it perfectly. As @Leah Smith would say it just has that “Mike Smith Magic”. So true.

Popped In anticipation of this weeks release. These are just ridiculously good and they always show a certain characteristic that is immediately identifiable as Myriad, the best way I can describe it is “weightless”. The wine glides over the palate like pure liquid velvet with everything in great balance. Rich dark fruit, ever present acidity, a kiss of oak, and tannins that have already softened a bit at this early stage.

I’m completely ashamed to say this is my first Myriad. Maybe I can hide it in a second post after midnight on a Saturday night.

Anyways, in terms of Napa Valley economics, $65 for this is a ridiculously absurd deal. Mocha, cassis, currant, with grilled meat, and it’s all tightly woven together with Rutherford Dust. Balance. Length. Savoriness.

What’s hard to articulate in a tasting note, though, is the incredible flavor intensity. This is wine in HD and Surround Sound. My man crush on

Tasted side by side with the 15 Becklyn NV and the 15 Quivet NV.

Super dark purplish red. Tight I start in the nose but then opened up with cassis, blackberries and sweet spices. Medium plus (7.5/10) and rounded full body. Dark fruits on the palate with sweet spices, brown sugar, blueberries, aniseed and crushed gravel. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2027. (92+)

15s are progressing along slowly. Still a little tannic and best after a couple hour decant. This has rich black fruits and enough acidity to keep everything lifted as it ends with those present tannins. Best with food. These should improve for several more years.
