Lovely nose with vanilla and mocha. Young fruit jumps from the glass with every sip. Round in the mouth with nice acid. Still young.

2008 Vina Ardanza 1.5ml

This wine has aged gracefully in the double bottle. Still has nice fruit and freshness from the Grenache. The 2008 is the first vintage the garnacha is 100% estate fruit. A decent amount of American oak and oxidation makes this Rioja easy and fun to drink. 7/3/20

An old trusted friend, a special year too. It’s not just the Gorgeous black fruits, or the perfect oak monster integration, or the balance-it’s really the lift & freshness that elevates this into one of my favorites, period. With some age it has also shedded some of its monolithic early character too. Love to taste in another five to seven years. Oh, & a remarkable value for about 28$ at its lowest price.

My first try at the 2008, so young even though it still 10 years old. This is a babe, a bit lighter and leaner, and balsamic notes. Try to wait it out, though its still delicious in it’s infanticide.

Stellar. Animal fur, burnt wood, forest floor, tannin galore.
