Herb Lamb Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

Final vintage from the Herb Lamb vineyard.

1 hour decant(lots of sediment). A gorgeous tawny ruby red color. On the nose: nice aeromatic notes of dark red fruit, cassis, mint, loamy soil, cigar ash, and touch of stewed meat. Taste: silky smooth, rich mouthcoating wine with dark red berry/plum, earthy, smoke, mocha, spice, gravel, and a nice dry medium plus finish. YUM!

Did a side by side of this and the 2007 Tychson Hill back in April…loved both, but the Tychson Hill barely edged it. Still, lucky you to enjoy!

@Shay A Nice side by side tasting! Was a fan of Herb and Jennifer wine. Still have some 2016 final vintage Herb Lamb cab in my cellar. So, it was a treat to try the Colgin Herb Lamb final vintage. Even bought some TRB Herb Lamb cab, but have not tried it yet. Cheers!

Jubilation Napa Valley Merlot 2004

Quite alcoholic on the nose. Plum and sweet fruit. Slightly toasted notes. Intense and pure. Very good. Unlike the others in this flight — 2 years ago

To say Colgin has a second label is a gross understatement as to how this fun wine delivers! Length, beauty and finesse all wrapped into one. — a month ago

Cariad Napa Valley Red Blend 1999

My first Cariad vineyard - a delightful expression of Cabernet in a glass! Graphite, tar, and dark fruit with mature tannic structure - less intense than Colgin’s IX… — 7 months ago

The Sisters Cabernet Sauvignon 2003

David T
9.7

I would invite you to find a bottle like this older & well stored 03, “The Sisters. “I would enjoy tasting this blind w/ Napa Cult wines & lovers. Then, watch their eyes open wide when I pulled off the brown bag. Many would call Colgin, Scarecrow, Harlan, Bond & the like etc.. I recently paid $50 for this 2003 at auction. That includes tax & auction fees. For vintage, they would call 10, 13 or 14. This is still youthful. Beautiful M+ somewhat rounded tannins, fruit buffet w/ dark pronounced spice. This has ten years plus left.

The palate is round, plush, phat fruits of; blackberries, black raspberries, plum, dark cherries, strawberries, purple fruits with blueberries. Dark, well pronounced spice, soft baking spices, sweet graphite, soft, fresh, tobacco notes, used leather warm, gray clay, river-stone, mocha, caramel notes, dry crushed rock, limestone marl, some dry top soil, dark, purple red fresh & withering florals, excellent, round acidity and a well made, balanced, beautifully structured and elegant finish that lasts minutes falling on elegant earth & spice.

TRB made wine. Stunning!!!!

IX Estate Napa Valley Syrah 2013

Delectable Wine
9.9

The 2013 IX Estate is a wild, exotic wine. In a sense, it marries the savory aromatic intensity of the Tychson Hill with the fruit richness found in the Cariad. It is another wine that has aged impeccably. There's plenty of mountain tannin and savoriness, along with the underlying structure to age well for many years to come. In a word: magnificent!
