Château Léoville Poyferré

Château Léoville-Las Cases

2eme Cru Classe Saint Julien 2003

Mon dieu! Opened too early. Exceptional, but still requires another 3 years in the bottle. Tannic monster, but revealing it pedigree. So pristine and precise. A first growth in all but the designation.... — 5 years ago

Hey @Mike R, Las Cases is probably my fave Bdx. It’s quality is right up there with the 1st growths, but costs half the price!

Cuvelier Los Andes

Mendoza Malbec 2012

Day 3: Big, black chocolate nose, with baked blackberry, black olives, and charred beef ribs charging from the glass. The floodgates have finally opened, and it was worth the wait! There is fresh cocoa bean pods and a jungle of flora; rosemary and iris extracts and an oatmeal raisin aspect to the perfuming.
Just the right texture for the pungent hothouse welcome: grippy and coarse, with a bitter chocolate and raspberry interplay, and a single unforgettable graphite and smoky slate backbone; unwavering in the churn of black currant, pepper, eucalyptus, leather and tobacco. Léoville Poyferré's high octane new world Malbec that puts a LOT of stick about! It also has an elegance, as all good dominatrixes should! You'll get a kick out of this!

Cuvelier Los Andes

Colección Malbec Blend 2011

Made by the same guys who operate Léoville Poyferré, they definitely know how to make a great blend. Their 2010 Grand Vin is perhaps my favourite Argentinean wine. It slightly lacks the depth and lushness of its bigger brother but it offers excellent value for the price. Notes of dark chocolate, coffee, cedar, oak, plum with hints of vanilla. Smooth acidity and tannins on the palate. Great Bordeaux style wine from Mendoza. — 7 years ago
