The better steak wine over the 2009 Ormes de Pez but, not the more beautiful, elegant wine.
The 2010 Rioja marries the Wagyu Ribcap while showing its Ranchero characteristics.
The palate shows tumble-weed, tannin fruits that are; brambly, ripe, slightly candied; blackberriesblack raspberries, dry, dark cherries with skin, ruby, black plums, very w/ ripe strawberries. Tumbleweed, straw, dark spice, tough leather, clove, sage, dry clay & top soil, crushed rocks, black pepper, dark, berry cola, mint, oak barrel powder, used charcoal with candied florals that are fresh & withering; dark, red, purple & blue. The acidity is top flight. The long finish is well balanced fruit & earth, persisting nicely falling onto earth & dark spices.

Huge wine with lots of stuffing — probably opened this prematurely. Great fruit underpinned by massive tannins at this stage. Budged a bit on day two.
Will let other bottles wait at least a few more years and crack some Perbacco instead. — 4 years ago
Nice flavor. Has a little spice. Didn't decant but will try for next time. Now to find a decanter🤔🤔🤔 — 6 years ago
‘10 is just a classic Barolo! 100% Nebbiolo, rich Ruby red color with aromas of black fruit, herb, floral, cedar and spice notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, cherry and ripe raspberry, with notes of leather, spice, cracked pepper and fennel, with licorice notes. Fine firm chewy tannins, packs a pop, long finish ending with fruit, oak, mineral and spice. It was great now but this Barolo still has a decade+ to age. Just delightful. — 3 years ago

Medium to full bodied. Brandied black and red cherry, black truffle, raspberry, violet, pipe tobacco, rosemary, mint, black licorice. Although I have a lot of descriptors here, the wine lacks finesse and integration of fruit and alcohol with the tannin which results in awkwardness and isn't quite balanced. Tannins are still abrasive and need a few more years to soften and integrate. A very dry food wine that needs food with salt and fat to counteract tannin. Bolognese, roasts, or braised meat would work well. — 6 years ago

Picked this up at Cellar Collections in Napa. Still a beautiful wine from a great producer. — 4 years ago
Fruit forward. Dry finish. — 4 years ago
Vday treat with a nose of raisins, prunes, old leather and dried tabacco. On the palate more dried fruit continues with lighter notes of violet that give way to earthly mushroom. Serious tannin grip add to the hefty mouthfeel. — 4 years ago
Really enjoying these Cab Francs from the Loire Valley. — 6 years ago
On the purple side with slight rim variation. Chocolate, red fruits and vanilla on the nose. Cherries and developing minerality, smooth yet firm tannins, medium body; finish with ripe fruit and rustic Italian oak. Well balanced and a go-to classic chianti. Yum! — 7 years ago

Jul 2033: 1.5 hour decant, nice but not a typical brunello, dark fruit, prunes, chocolate, fine tannins. Will revisit in 5 years — 7 years ago
